Every wednesday throughout the month join our wildlife guide, Bob Ford, as he takes you on a walk around Portland. Each walk lasts approximately 90 minutes, covers a distance of 1 to 2 miles and sets of at 10:00 AM from the Hotel car park. Visit Bob's Dorset Walks website for a full itinary.
Seasonal Circuit – Weymouth Esplanade. Men only sponsored walk along Weymouth Seafront raising funds for Weldmar Hospice – www.weld-hospice.org.uk 16 Binoculars and telescopes optic demo. At our RSPB Radipole Lake Visitor Centre, we sell a wide range of binoculars and telescopes, available to try and buy every day of the year, with expert advice on hand to help you get the best solution, but we also run special events, where a wider range is available to try. An evening with egrets - RSPB Radipole Lake. Watch the sky go white, as up to 70 little egrets come into roost at the North hide pool. Also keep a look out for cattle egrets, grey herons and the elusive bittern. Wrap up warm for this event and bring a torch. Free binocular hire available. Bird and Nature Break at the Heights Hotel (22nd - 24th)
What’s that bird? Free family event part of the Big Garden Birdwatch - RSPB Radipole Lake. Can you tell your dunnocks from your house sparrows? Come and join us out for a walk around Radipole to learn who is who and how to encourage wildlife where you live. There will be plenty of freebies to pick up and hints and tips on wildlife friendly gardening. Bring in the results from your own garden birdwatch and enter our prize draw.
